Our thanks to Fr John Keenan for an excellent talk on topical issues in the Catholic Church. It’s been an interesting transition to the Papacy of Pope Francis and Fr John described how Francis is leading a New Evangelisation within the Church;
The Church needs to redouble her efforts in being more inclusive towards Catholics and Christians who feel distant from her. As Catholics we are encouraged to deepen our own faith and to avoid the trap of moralism where a temptation to reduce Christianity to a basic set of ethical systems exisits.
In the forthcoming year, Pope Francis is organising an Extraordinary Synod on the Family as part of a dialogue process and New Evangelisation within the Church. We are encouraged to participate in this process via the online questionaires that are available;
